24/25 Canvas modules will become available on the Tuesday 14 May. Your Learning Technologists (LTs) are currently putting the finishing touches on our guidance and support for module set up. This will be ready for Tuesday 14 May.
Following a successful pilot by the School of Media Arts and Humanities last year to automate some elements of the process, making set up easier and improving consistency for students across the School, several other Schools are taking this approach for 24/25. Therefore, it is important that you familiarise yourself with the updated guidance when it becomes available as this may not be the same as you have followed previously.
If you have any questions or need support with this, our LTs are on hand to help. Your LT will communicate through the regular channels about support available in your School, this may be workshops, drop-ins or one to ones. For enquiries and requests for support please email educationalenhancement@sussex.ac.uk
For those new to the University or setting up a module for the first time, there is more information below.
What are Module templates.
Module templates are a way of maintaining consistency of look, feel and navigation for students and staff across the Canvas module sites both within a School and across the organisation. Some Schools have opted to have the home page and associate key pages automatically applied to ensure key module information is up to date.
Module set up
Each May the next academic year's module sites become available for editing, we are updating our comprehensive guidance, taking you through the steps need to ensure your module is ready and published for teaching.
Obligations around web accessibility
It is your responsibility to ensure that modules sites in Canvas meet web accessibility standards. Using the most up to date templates helps address this. Our guidance also links to further information about the resources and materials you add to the site and how to ensure your content is digitally accessible, as required by law. We are here to help, so please do get in touch if you have any questions or concerns about the accessibility of your Canvas module site.
