Abstract
Based on the deviations and stoppages in energy infrastructures that occurred given the COVID-19 pandemic, this contribution proposes to analyse the notions of Energy Communities from the Amerindian Thought. Specifically, it is inspired by the recognition of relationalities, reciprocities and complementarities which expand its dichotomous analyses. In addition, these axes, considered against a motley background, situate energy communities as frictionally fruitful ways to face planetary challenges. Although they are impossible to reduce to the impulses of public policy, renewable technologies and fictions about metropolitan evasions, it seems prudent to warn about growing participation under ethical-political principles from local level.
Biography
Gloria Baigorrotegui is an Associate Professor at the Advanced Studies Institute (IDEA in Spanish) at the University of Santiago de Chile. She is an STS scholar (PhD in Philosophy of Science at the University of the Basque Country, Spain) with a previous formation as an Industrial Engineer at the University of Santiago de Chile. She was a National Council Member in the Chilean Environmental Ministry (2017 to 2018) and a Council Member of the Society for Social Studies of Science (2017 to 2019). Her research focuses on the sociotechnical analysis of science and technology, energy policy, energy community initiatives and collective actions, and environmental thinking, waste, maintenance, care and repair. She is Editor-in-Chief of the EstuDAv Journal (ERIHPLUS, ESCI-WOS), which includes interdisciplinary studies from America, including decolonial, gender and STS studies.
