Find out how to order food and drink for corporate events and meetings on the Sussex campus.

How to order catering for a meeting or small event

You can order food and drink using our hospitality portal – also known as BlueRunner.

You need to be a member of staff employed by the University to use the system.

Log into BlueRunner

Getting system access

To get access to the system, email cateringservices@compass-group.co.uk.

Ask to be set up with a BlueRunner account and provide the following:

  • your name
  • department
  • the building you work in
  • your Sussex email address
  • a phone number
  • the cost code your catering orders will be charged to
  • your line manager's email address for authorisation.

Permission to place an order

You need permission from your line manager to create an order and spend your department’s budget.

You'll need your department’s non-pay cost code. If you don’t know your cost code, speak to your line manager.

Deadlines for orders

You should allow at least:

  • 72 hours for food orders
  • 48 hours for drinks orders.

On the day

A member of catering staff will arrive before your event or meeting with the food and drink you have ordered.

The catering team are always happy to set up your order before the event starts. To do this, they will need access to your specified location.

The team will arrive after your event to clear things away.

Leftover food

You are welcome to take away any food that is left from your meeting.

Any food you leave behind will go into our aerobic digester – a bio processor that turns food waste, plate waste, takeaway cutlery and containers into fertiliser. This stops food and packaging going into landfill.

Catering for bigger events

The BlueRunner system is designed to offer food and drink for small office catering across campus.

For bigger events that need a more bespoke service, email the conference centre: spacewithus@sussex.ac.uk.
