This session is aimed at researchers who have no or limited background experience in quantitative methods. The overall aim of the session is to equip researchers to understand the results of quantitative studies. It is hoped that participants will hence be able to forge new collaborations with those undertaking quantitative studies, combine expertise and hence act as responsible co-authors.
By attending this session, you will:
- Identify different types of data and data structures.
- Identify appropriate visualisation methods and basic exploratory data analysis methods for a given dataset.
- Understand the concept of statistical significance and its practical applications.
- Recognise the names of basic statistical tests and have an overview of what they are testing.
This session forms part of 3 sessions on working with quantitative data in scholarship studies
- Session 1: Working as a co-author on a quantitative study
- Session 2: Planning quantitative studies
- Session 3: Undertaking quantitative analysis using SPSS
Participants can join in all or a selection of sessions based on their prior knowledge and experience.
