Professor Mariana Mazzucato
SPRU's RM Phillips Professor in the Economics of Innovation Mariana Mazzucato visited the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Luxembourg on Tuesday (8 March) to give a talk to its staff on the role of public banks in funding innovation and to discuss her work with the Secretary General.
Drawing from Professor Mazzucato's prize-winning book The Entrepreneurial State: Debunking public vs. private sector myths (Anthem, 2013), the talk - titled ‘The Entrepreneurial State and the Role of Public Banks’ - explored ways in which the EIB can enhance its impact on publicly funded innovation.
Following her appearance, Professor Mazzucato was interviewed by the EIB to discuss some of the ideas covered in the talk. Watch the video below or on YouTube.
Her visit is also the focus of articles published in Luxembourg Journal [PDF], Le Quotidien [PDF] and PaperJam (all in French).
