A professor of Mathematical and Computational Biology in Mathematics has been given the prestigious Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award.
Professor Anotida Madzvamuse, who works on the interface between maths and biology, has won the award for "outstanding scientists".
He said: “I am very proud to have received this award. My long-term vision is to establish an interdisciplinary research centre involving data analysis, modelling and scientific computing.
“I would like to thank my research group for their continued support – I dedicate this award to them.”
In addition to being able to call himself the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award holder, Professor Madzvamuse also receives a five-year salary enhancement.
Professor Madzvamuse recently organised a highly prestigious six-month research programme at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge on Coupling geometric PDEs with Physics for cell morphology, motility and pattern formation.
