The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sussex has welcomed the Government’s decision to allow EU students to continue to have access to the same funding support that they currently receive. This will be available to students applying to start in 2017, for the duration of their studies at the University of Sussex.
Commented Adam Tickell: “This is important news and clarification for students from the EU, who are looking at their University options for 2017. Here at Sussex we welcome students from around the world – it’s what makes our campus such an eclectic and vibrant place to be. We want our students to become citizens of the world and we want them to begin that journey while studying at Sussex. Universities must be a place where a mix of cultures, opinions and influences are encouraged and celebrated.
"Earlier on this year students from 104 countries took part in our most global graduation ceremony, something I would like to see continue for many years to come.”
Universities Minister Jo Johnson said: “International students make an important contribution to our world-class universities, and we want that to continue. This latest assurance that students applying to study next year will not only be eligible to apply for student funding under current terms, but will have their eligibility maintained throughout the duration of their course, will provide important stability for both universities and students.”
