Have you ever thought about creating your own podcast but don’t know where to start?
Martin Spinelli is passionate about podcasting. A former radio producer and presenter, and co-host of For Your Ears Only, the definitive how-to podcast for aspiring podcasters, Martin teaches podcasting at the University of Sussex.
On Tuesday 15 October he’s hosting a free podcasting event in Brighton for everyone interested in podcasts and podcasting.
As a taster of what to expect, Martin’s created this top ten list of podcasting tips with co-host Lance Dann to share their tips for preparing the perfect podcast.
The Podcasting: For Your Ears Only workshop and networking event runs from 3-7pm on 15 October at The Lighthouse on Kensington Street in Brighton as part of the Brighton Digital Festival. It brings together podcasters, critics and producers who will share insights and techniques that make great podcasts stand out.
The workshop is free to attend and open to everyone interested in podcasting, whether that’s launching a new podcast, lifting a podcast to the next level, or simply learning about it as a creative and cultural phenomenon. No pre-booking is necessary and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
Podcasting is booming. Free to download, easy to access with loads of choice from comedy and drama to news and documentaries. They’re relatively easy to produce too. But there’s much more to making a great podcast than balancing sound levels. The workshop will explore the art of podcasting such as narrative, intimacy, ethics and authenticity.
On the day, Martin and Lance will also launch their book, Podcasting: the Audio Revolution that explores the art and business of podcasting in more detail.
