This week, staff, students and alumni were invited to a special memorial event to acknowledge the challenging experiences, trauma and loss that we have been through over the past six months due to the Covid pandemic; and to come together as a university community to focus on hope for the future.
Reverend Chris McDermott, lead chaplain, led the event which allowed people to recognised and reflect on loss of work, the familiar routines, a sense of safety and order, and especially those we may have lost who have been members of the University and wider alumni community.
He said: “While the event allowed us to acknowledge the hard times, losses and changes that we have experienced as we coped with the Covid 19 virus over the past several months, it also provided us with an opportunity to look ahead with hope for the future.”
