The first in a new series of weekly engagement updates about the University’s Size and Shape programme from Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise, and Acting Provost, Keith Jones:
This is the first of a weekly column from me in This is Sussex, whilst we go through the University’s Size and Shape engagement process.
Firstly as a quick reminder, if you have not seen it yet please take a few minutes to watch the video shared earlier this week, that explains why this process is so important.
The engagement process has now started. The Sussex Engagement Group, which you can read more about on the Size and Shape webpages met on Wednesday, to develop a set of Size and Shape engagement questions. These questions are set for all staff to consider in their meetings with their Head of School/Director next week.
I was impressed with the experience, expertise and insight the group members utilised during the meeting and thanks to their efforts we now have a set of thought-provoking questions. We want everyone in the University to respond to these questions in order to help steer the big decisions that we need to take as an institution.
You should now, or very soon, be invited to join a Size and Shape session with your Head of School or Divisional Director, where these questions will be discussed.
As I mentioned in my email on Tuesday, we know some may prefer to give feedback to the engagement questions online. That is why next Monday 26 April from 2pm onwards, you can provide your responses online via the How to Engage with Size and Shape web page.
You may want to revisit the engagement questions online after you have attended your School/Division engagement meetings.
We really want to hear from as many staff as possible.
After all of us have had the opportunity to respond to the engagement questions next week, the feedback will be analysed and then reviewed by the Sussex Engagement Group. The Group will then develop a further set of questions and you will be invited to another School/Divisional meeting to explore them in detail.
With best wishes
Keith
