A new programme has begun to deliver a new student information system at the University of Sussex.
Now the initial phases of the programme have been approved, work is starting on assembling the programme team and developing a full business case.
The new technology is expected to be in place for September 2024.
Professor Kate O’Riordan, Dean of the School of Media, Arts and Humanities, has executive responsibility for the programme. She said: “This is a critical project for the future success of the University.
“We are determined to deliver the solution that the University and our people need, which is why we are making sure that the very best governance and project-management practices are in place.
“This is an ambitious timeline but it’s important we do not rush and that we get this right.”
There is a pressing need to replace the current student information system with a sector-standard, tried-and-tested technological solution.
The new programme aims to deliver a modern, cloud-based student information system that will be simple and intuitive and easily integrated with existing systems and processes.
The next nine months will be focused on scoping and planning, with a view to presenting the final business case to Council, the University’s governing body, in March 2022.
A tender process to identify and procure the right technological solution is expected to take place in summer 2022.
The programme team is committed to regular communication with staff as the project progresses.
