Today (3 March 2022), Internal Communications wrote to all staff and PGRs. You can read the message below:
Dear colleague,
Now that the current round of industrial action is finished, a reminder to those of you who participated that you are required to complete a declaration form.
Some members of the University and College Union (UCU) took part in strike action this week on Monday 28 February, Tuesday 1 March and Wednesday 2 March. This followed on from industrial action on 21-22 February, 14-18 February 2022, and 1-3 December 2021.
The University’s stated position is that the University will deduct pay from staff who take lawful industrial action at the rate of 1/365th of salary, for each day that is not worked. Deducting a day's pay for a day of strike action is a normal and accepted outcome of strike action.
For those declaring up to five days of strike action, the deductions will be made in the March payroll. The University has agreed that for those declaring more than five days, the deductions will be staggered and the additional days deducted from the April payroll.
The deadline to complete the electronic return form to confirm all the date(s) on which you took strike action in February and March (whether or not the deductions will be staggered) is 5pm on Friday 11 March. Thank you to all those colleagues who have completed it to date. Please use your short username as your user id to access the online declaration form.
You can read our industrial action FAQs for further information.
Best wishes,
