Liz James announced as Interim Dean of School of Media, Arts and Humanities

Following Professor Kate O’Riordan’s appointment as our new Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education & Students), Professor Liz James has been appointed Interim Dean of the School of Media, Arts and Humanities (MAH).
Liz, who has been at Sussex since 1993, is Professor of Art History and specialises in the art of the Byzantine Empire, especially mosaics. She will serve in this interim role until the appointment of Executive Deans for the new faculties that will be formally established during the coming year.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sasha Roseneil said: “I am delighted to have appointed Liz, a dedicated and passionate leader, researcher and educator, to lead MAH through the next, crucial, academic year, during which we will develop Sussex’s next University strategy and plan the move to new the faculty structure.”
Professor Liz James said: “I am pleased to take on this new role and thank Kate for her leadership in getting MAH to where it is now. I hope I can follow in her footsteps and leave MAH in a good place for whoever becomes Executive Dean.”
