Welcome to our newsletter for staff to facilitate awareness and support for students.
Student Finance Funding
Students can apply for their student loans for 25/26 from mid-March if they are Student Finance England funded. Please do advise them to do this earlier rather than later to avoid any delays getting their loans next year.
Faculty Wellbeing Consultant Drop-ins
Any staff member from MAH or the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine can attend the below drop-in sessions. If you cannot attend, please email r.goff@sussex.ac.uk to arrange a different time.
- Mondays: 2-3pm - Pevensey 1 2B14
- Tuesdays: 9:30 -11am - Chichester 1 Meeting Room 0 (in foyer) / 2-4pm - JMS room 4C23A
- Wednesdays: 3:30 - 4:30pm - Pevensey 2 3C19
Any staff member in the Business School or the Faculty of Social Sciences can attend the below drop-in sessions. If you cannot attend, please email rg492@sussex.ac.uk to arrange a different time.
- Tuesdays: 1-2pm Essex House 'CIE' (room 148)
- Alternating Monday/Friday: 12-2pm Freeman G14
FWC Training
The Faculty Wellbeing Consultants (FWC) deliver regular training sessions for staff in key areas relating to student wellbeing including 'Introduction to student wellbeing', 'Maintaining boundaries' and 'Responding to distress'.
Sessions aim to develop an understanding of:
- Signs and symptoms of poor wellbeing
- Speaking to students about concerns
- Support available for students at Sussex
- Appropriate escalation of wellbeing concerns about students
- Maintaining boundaries when supporting students
- How to support students in distress
- Support available for staff wellbeing
- Report and Support & Sexual and Domestic Abuse Awareness Training
