The £30 Pay As You Go (PAYG) administration fee will be removed with immediate effect, following feedback from staff and a review of updated parking data.
Over the past year, the introduction of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and a new visitor charging structure has improved parking management, reduced illegal parking and increased overall parking revenue. New analysis shows this additional income covers the revenue generated by the PAYG admin fee.
As a result, all colleagues who have already paid the fee will receive a full refund. These refunds will be processed in the new year.
A change to Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) has also been agreed and from Monday 5 January 2026, PCNs will increase to £40 if paid within 14 days and £80 if paid after 14 days. This brings Sussex in line with sector benchmarks.
No further increases to permit-holder parking charges will be made before September 2026, in line with previous commitments.
