Final Call: Fully Funded Coaching Professional level 5 Apprenticeship (July Start)

As part of national reforms by the Department for Education, a number of apprenticeship programmes will be defunded from September 2026. This means opportunities currently available will soon disappear—and many are already capped.
One of the most valued programmes by Sussex staff—the Coaching Professional Apprenticeship—is among those affected and we've been able to secure 10 final places for a July start with KnowledgeBrief, available on a first come, first served basis.
This is a unique opportunity to develop highly sought-after coaching skills that can transform how you support colleagues, lead conversations, and drive performance across the University. Previous Sussex participants have highlighted the lasting impact on their confidence, leadership style, and ability to empower others.

If you’re considering developing your coaching capability, this is likely the last opportunity to do so through a fully funded apprenticeship.
This apprenticeship is ideal if you:
- Regularly support, develop or manage others and want to enhance your coaching approach
- Want to build confidence in having meaningful, developmental conversations
- Are interested in empowering others to find their own solutions, rather than giving direction
- Can commit to around 6 hours per week of off-the-job learning within your working hours
What you need to do
Before applying, please review the guidance on the Staff Apprenticeship webpage to ensure the programme is right for you.
To apply:
- Complete the online Qualtrics Expression of Interest (EOI) form
- Forward the link to gain your line manager approval
- Secure department head sign-off.
Applications will be processed in date order, so early submission is essential. Please note: Maths and English qualifications are no longer required for staff aged 19+ to start an apprenticeship.
We recognise this comes at a challenging time across the University, but this is a rare, time-limited opportunity to invest in your development at no cost.
If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch.
