As educators we have a professional and legal obligation to ensure that all students can access our digital content. This session offers practical tips and useful resources to enable you to create accessible documents, Canvas sites and announcements.
Overview
This session will highlight the importance of accessibility, as well as offering practical guidance for how to check and improve the accessibility of existing resources.
Participants will have the opportunity to practice checking resources for accessibility and take steps to improve this.
Audience
This session will be of value to:
- Staff with teaching responsibilities
- Whilst this session concentrates on digital accessibility in the context of teaching resources on Canvas, we welcome any staff who would like to learn more about digital accessibility.
Additional information
- This session assumes prior experience in using email, Microsoft Word and Powerpoint.

- The Digital Accessibility Toolkit offers specific guidance on how best to meet accessibility legislation requirements and provide an improved learning environment for all, with step-by-step guides for making digital content accessible, including PowerPoint presentations, but also for other applications including Word and Canvas.
