What do Richard Attenborough, Agatha Christie and Virginia Woolf have in common? Which Sussex alum became President of South Africa? Did 1960s students really win a fire engine in a competition...and what happened to it?
Answers to all these questions can be found in our new Out of the Box exhibition. It shows how the lives and experiences of a diverse group of people can be told through the Heritage Collections managed by the Library.
The exhibition includes materials on Sussex on Film, Global Sussex, James Henry and Devil's Dyke, LGBTQ+, Protest at Sussex, Student Life, Agatha Christie and Virginia Woolf. It also highlights notable alumni and presents first editions from Jane Austen and Charlotte Brontë.
Our Heritage Collections consist of the archives and rare books we hold at The Keep, along with our artworks and documents & ephemera. These are unique or distinct items which provide a valuable resource for teaching and research at Sussex.
