Choosing where and how to publish your research can be challenging, particularly if you are new to scholarly publishing.
This workshop provides an overview of the publishing landscape, helping researchers evaluate journals and publishers and understand open access publishing options and funding arrangements. Participants will be enabled to make informed decisions about sharing research outputs openly and know how to access support services at the University of Sussex.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate journals and publishers using tools such as the Think, Check, Submit checklist and other indicators of publishing quality.
- Apply knowledge of open access publishing models, including Green and Gold open access, to select appropriate publishing options for their research outputs.
- Explain the benefits and implications of making research outputs openly available.
- Use publication metrics and other indicators responsibly to inform publishing decisions.
- Identify University of Sussex open access agreements, funding opportunities, and publishing support services.
