Staff can now view more detailed results from our latest pulse staff survey of 2021, including data about equalities and School and Divisional level data.
The University held a second pulse staff survey during September and October as part of an ongoing listening and improvement strategy.
Earlier this month we shared the overall institutional level results from the latest survey which raised a number of challenges to address. Only 1,606 staff took part, a response rate of 36%, compared with 2,162 or 48% in the previous one.
As well as headline findings from the survey we now have equalities data – in relation to disability, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity – and School and Division data, which can be viewed on our Staff Survey webpages.
Staff are invited to update their equality data at any time via MyView, our self-service portal which will support the University to appreciate and respond to differences in experience between groups with certain protected characteristics.
David Ruebain, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Culture, Equality and Inclusion said: “It is really important for us to have this data. This is critical to provide a nuanced evidence base which, along with qualitative knowledge, is the platform for all our work, including our Charter Marks. I will be considering this data and these disaggregated reports with staff networks, steering groups and self-assessment teams.
“It is also important that we are open and transparent with the results and that staff are given the opportunity to view and explore that data.”
These results are now accessible from our staff webpages (login required).
The local results will be shared by Heads of School and Divisional Directors with their teams for discussion and local action planning. Local teams will also be asked to suggest institutional level priorities.
In early 2022, University-level action plans will be shared with all staff and School and Divisions will also share their agreed local plans.
Progress of work with the staff survey will be monitored by the People, Culture, and Inclusion Committee and by the University Executive Group.
