Dear students,
Last Friday, we celebrated our annual Pitch for the Planet student innovation competition, where six students presented their brilliant ideas to help us achieve our goal of being Net Zero Carbon by 2035 and other objectives of our Sustainability Strategy.
Congratulations go to winners Kimia Goudarzi, Timothy Merritt and Daniela Valenzuela, Samuel Gandy and Victoria Yates, and Jack Zeniewski for their initiatives – and well done to Temilade Salami, Kathryn Cheeseman and Ben Mitchell, who won COP26 Climate Leader Prizes of £3000 each!

A message from the Vice-Chancellor
Earlier this week, David Maguire, our Interim Vice-Chancellor published a message condemning the Russian Government’s invasion of Ukraine.
We know this may be a very stressful and upsetting time for many of our Eastern European students, and our support services are here to help you.

The Education Awards are coming!
Next week is the launch of the Education Awards, which gives every student the opportunity to nominate University staff who demonstrate the spirit and values of the University. Why not have a think about who you would like to nominate from next week? I’ll be in touch in the next Student update with more details of the categories and how to nominate.
National Student Survey – final year students
Thank you to all the final year students who have already completed the National Student Survey (NSS). We will soon be announcing the winners of our prize draw.
If you’re a final year student and you haven’t completed the survey yet, please do. The NSS is one of the most influential sources of information about Higher Education in the UK. For every completed survey, we will donate £1 to one of the four charities shortlisted by your Student Reps.
