The University is seeking to appoint a new Academic Director of Internationalisation at Home (IAH) to increase the proportion of ourundergraduate students who have an international experience as part of their studies.
The role will equate to 0.2 FTE from 1 September 2022 to July 2023, with the possibility of extension. It will form part of a new on-campus internationalisation program introduced at Sussex from September2022 known as Internationalisation at Home (IAH).
As part of the University International Strategy (2019-25), Sussex wants to ensure that by 2025, 40% of undergraduate students undertake a global experience during their studies by travelling abroad or in the UK throughIAH.
The role holder will lead on the development and embedding of opportunities for students to develop intercultural competencies - supporting the wider interculturalisation work of the University. They will be the responsible academic lead for IAH, under the direction of Professor Richard Follett, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor International, and supported by the Global Engagement team.
Academic staff are welcome to put themselves forward for the position or can be nominated by their School or Department. However, all interested candidates must have the permission of Head of School/Department as the role holder’s substantive position will remain as a faculty member of their school (with 0.2 FTE of their substantive position backfilled through Global Engagement funding).
Academic staff interested in discussing the post may wish to have an informal conversation with Richard Follett, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International): mailto:r.follett@sussex.ac.uk.The closing date is Friday 10 June.
