The University of Sussex is delighted to offer four levels of management and leadership apprenticeships providing a structured development pathway for supervisors, team leaders, middle managers and those aspiring to become senior leaders in the future. This is a great opportunity for individuals to develop vital skills in the workplace and gain professional qualifications at no cost to them.
We have partnered with some robust training providers who offer either face-to-face or online delivery to suit your preferred learning style, thus maximising progression and achievement.
Team Leader or Supervisor
This level 3 apprenticeship is particularly suited to staff new to supervisory or team-leading roles, or first-line managers interested in developing their skills and knowledge. The apprenticeship lasts between 14-18 months depending on the programme you choose and includes a level 3 qualification from ILM or CMI and an Apprenticeship Certificate.
Operations or Departmental Manager
This level 5 apprenticeship is suitable for mid-level managers with management experience of approximately 4-5 years. The duration of this programme is between 24-30 months and upon completion, you will receive a Level 5 ILM or CMI qualification and a Higher Apprenticeship Certificate.
Chartered Manager Degree
QA Ltd offer a Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship consisting of modules at levels 4, 5 and 6. This apprenticeship is suitable for anyone with significant management responsibilities. This is an intensive 42-month programme with entry points at levels 4 and level 5 and upon successful completion leads to BSc (Hons) Professional Management and Chartered Manager (MCMI) status. The Degree Apprenticeship is awarded by the University of Roehampton.
Senior Leader
This level 7 apprenticeship is suitable for individuals in senior positions or those who have been in management roles for some time and are responsible for making strategic decisions. The programme’s duration is approximately 30 months and upon successful completion, leads to a level 7 CMI qualification (with Chartered Fellow Status, a Higher Apprenticeship Certificate, or a Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership). It is possible to add two extra modules to this programme to achieve an MBA but there is an additional cost to the individual for this.
As an apprentice, you will be supported by your own personal tutor coach and will be allocated study time during your working week but this needs to be agreed upon in advance with your manager. All training providers have programmes starting in January 2023 but please note that places are limited and individuals must have registered by the first week in December to secure a place. If you are interested (whether for yourself or a team member), please review the information about apprenticeships, eligibility and the process of applying on the apprenticeships webpage.
