This year, for the first time, the University of Sussex has been recognised as the Higher Education Partner for Brighton Festival, the annual celebration of arts, culture and creativity in Brighton & Hove.
As part of this year’s Festival programme, we are supporting Our Place, a dedicated series of community events in Brighton’s neighbourhoods. Our Place is a free celebration of creativity for all the family, including art projects, performances and guest appearances selected in partnership with community steering groups.
Some of the events hosted by Our Place include:
Family Fun Day
Whitehawk Library | Saturday 20 May | 10am until 3.30pm.
Activities include an I am Nefertiti book reading by author Annemarie Anang, a spoken word performance by young Whitehawk residents and badge and puppet making.
Creative Youth Takeover
Hangleton Library | Sunday 21 May | 10am until 3.30pm.
It includes a workshop in the morning for young aspiring writers aged 11-16 and a showcase performance in the afternoon with a secret guest appearance.
