Student Centre recognised at Sussex Heritage Awards

The University of Sussex Student Centre has been Highly Commended in the 2023 Sussex Heritage Awards.
The Sussex Heritage Trust Awards recognise and reward the highest quality conservation, restoration and good design of newly built projects while encouraging the use of traditional skills and craft, with award judges noting the ‘attention to detail to achieve a student-centred environment and an impressive learning space that provides great pastoral care’.
With designs inspired by our local surrounds of the South Downs, Sussex coastline and Brighton, the Student Centre has become the go-to place for students to get face-to-face information, advice, and guidance as well as a flexible space to study, socialise a be creative.
Nigel Rippon, Head of Capital Projects said: ‘It is a real honour for our Student Centre to have been Highly Commended in the Sussex Heritage Awards – our aim was to create a modern flexible space dedicated to Students whilst also complementing our historic campus, so I am delighted to see our achievements recognised.’
ADP Architecture, who designed our Student Centre said: ‘The centre reflects the University of Sussex’s distinctive brand: confident, progressive, and unafraid to stand out. Form and function go hand in hand, with comfortable furniture, integrated IT systems and efficient layouts complemented by strong, quirky design aesthetics.’
