Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students), Professor Kate O'Riordan, wrote to all taught students earlier today. You can read the full message below:
Hello,
I hope you are having a wonderful summer and are looking forward to the new academic year.
Some of you might have received the results from your resits today and I hope that you have received the grades to enable you to progress. If you have any queries about your results, please contact your School Office in the first instance. They will be able to explain the exam board's decision and advise on the next steps if required.
Remember, if you are looking for information and advice on practical matters, visit the online Student Hub. From events to international student information, and much more – the Hub is your first place to look.
You can also find information on if you can appeal your results and how on the Student Hub. You may also want to look at guidance from the Support and Advocacy team in the Students’ Union for independent academic advice.
The Student Centre also provides a wide range of support services. You can contact our friendly Welcome team to arrange a confidential appointment with one of our advisors on any matter that may be affecting you.
We want to make sure that you can access student support and information as easily as possible. That’s why this week, we announced the launch of My Sussex, a new and improved way for you to access support and find answers to your student queries - more on this below.
Finally, I want to welcome our new Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, Professor Michael Luck, who has joined us this week from King’s College London. I am looking forward to working with Michael to deliver the University’s academic vision and strategy.

Marking and assessment boycott information
We are continuing to update the industrial action page on the Student Hub when there is new information. Please check this page to stay up to date and see answers to frequently-asked questions about the impact of the marking and assessment boycott.
If you have concerns and need extra guidance or support, the University has services available that provide advice on a range of subjects. You can access these services via the Student Centre.
My Sussex – your new online support portal
My Sussex launched on Monday 4 September. This new online portal will put useful information at your fingertips 24/7 and will make it easier to proactively find what you need.
Please note My Sussex is not an emergency service - staff will be able to respond to enquiries within core hours and cannot provide immediate support in an emergency. For emergency support information please do visit the Getting help page on the Student Hub.
Centres of Excellence – the University’s pillars of research strength
In July we launched 12 new Centres of Excellence at a parliamentary reception. These new flagship research centres will carry out innovative and world-leading research addressing areas of global importance – from tackling global health and sustainability challenges to advancing artificial intelligence and quantum technology.
