Annually, on 10 October, we observe World Mental Health Day (WMHD), and this year’s theme is ‘Mental health is a universal human right’. Established by the World Federation for Mental Health, WMHD serves as a platform for increasing awareness around mental health, fostering positive transformations and opening conversations about mental wellbeing, the importance of self-care, and the significance of seeking assistance when it’s needed.
There are a number of mental health support options available for staff:
Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
Our EAP is here to help if you’re worried about finances, feeling anxious or stressed. The EAP provides wellbeing support whenever you need it most, including access to highly qualified counsellors by phone, WhatsApp, live chat and SMS, or you can even request a call back 24/7, 365 days a year. As well as a confidential counselling helpline offering up to eight structured counselling sessions, you have access to a medical helpline, legal support and help with day-to-day issues, such as career coaching, consumer advice or relationship mediation.
Wellbeing Support Guide
Our newly-launched Wellbeing Support Guide is available on the Wellbeing Hub, offering a range of useful internal and external resources to support your wellbeing.
'Exploring Wellbeing Support at Sussex and Beyond' online event
Facilitated by Wendy Carey, Staff Wellbeing Manager, our Exploring Wellbeing Support at Sussex and Beyond webinar is on 10 October from 10.30am – 11.30am. Wendy will be joined by Sussex Sports and Able Futures and during the session you’ll learn more about Sussexsport, the Menopause Network, Mental Health First Aid Network and more. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the support that’s available at Sussex and beyond.
