Academics at Sussex may receive (or have already received) an invitation to complete the Global Academic Reputation Survey being run by Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. We encourage you to fill in the survey if you are selected to take part.
About the survey
The Global Academic Reputation Survey is the world’s largest invitation-only academic opinion survey. It asks questions at the level of your specific subject discipline and asks you to name up to 15 universities that you believe are the best in research and teaching. Respondents can select their own university in one or both categories, but please do make use of the opportunity to select other universities. The total volume of ‘self-votes’ is capped at 10% for any institution.
The headline results of the survey will be shared with respondents. The results will then contribute to the series of Times Higher Education rankings in 2024, including the Teaching and Research Environment pillars of THE World University Rankings.
Global rankings such as these are highly influential, helping potential students, staff, partners and funders to decide where to spend their time or money.
Who can take part
The survey organisers use contact details from openly available research papers to find academics who have published at least once in the last five years, with one or more citations. Academics who meet these criteria are then randomly selected to be invited to take part in the survey.
Universities cannot make nominations or supply contact lists. If selected, you will hear from Times Higher Education directly.
How you can help
Please check your inbox (and junk folder) for an invitation from surveys@timeshighereducationemail.com. Some emails have already been sent out.
The survey is open until the end of January and it should only take around 15 minutes to complete. This year the survey is available in 12 languages.
Your answers are confidential and independent of any institution. They will be combined with other experts’ opinions and analysed in aggregate.
