Our next online Research with Impact forum will focus on Research Culture at Sussex. This fully-online event takes place from 2.30pm-3.30pm on Wednesday 31 January.
The importance of the Research Culture underpinning our research has increasingly been recognised over the last five years, with funders encouraging organisations to think about how they are supporting their whole research community to develop and thrive, and supporting positive practices such as collaboration and Open Research.
Our special guest speaker is Professor Sotaro Kita, Director of the National Centre for Research Culture and Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research) at University of Warwick. He will talk about the importance of Research Culture and the ways in which Warwick is working to enhance theirs while enabling universities to share good practice, coordinate and cooperate across the sector, crucial to tackling this shared challenge.
Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research, Professor Seb Oliver and Senior Research Culture Consultant, Dr Lorna Hards, will share their work at Sussex - consulting our community about their aspirations for Research Culture, identifying our strengths, priorities and the challenges we face. They'll also discuss the Research Culture Enabling Plan, a road map to bringing about the changes we want to see. The plan is a work in progress that will continue to grow and evolve through conversation, evaluation and learning and there will be the opportunity for audience Q&A and discussion.
Bringing Research Culture activity to life, Dr Andre Maia Chagas will talk about the Open Research Technologies Hub, a Sussex project innovating and co-developing open source research hardware and technologies, supported through Enhancing Research Culture funding, the Library and Life Sciences.
