Paperless Parking update: PayByPhone app and web payment window extended

It is now easier to pay your daily parking charge via the PayByPhone app and website
In a recent update, we let you know about an issue when trying to pay the daily staff parking charge within the 48-hour payment window, where the PayByPhone app and website had a payment cut-off time of 5pm.
To address this, a manual system was put in place to allow drivers to still be able to pay for parking up to 48 hours of entering campus, via the Transport Office.
Listening to your feedback, the Transport Office has worked with PayByPhone to improve app and website functionality for University of Sussex staff – Pay As You Go permit holders now have until 23.59 on the day they parked on campus, to pay their daily parking charge.
Forgot to pay on the day?
If you do forget to pay on the day, staff Pay As You Go permit holders can still pay for their daily parking within 48 hours (or by 4pm Monday if forgot to pay on Friday), via card, at the Transport Office reception in the Hastings Building.
As long as you pay your daily parking charge within 48 hours of arriving on campus, you will only be charged £2 for the period between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Parking for registered staff permit holders is free outside these hours.
If you do forget to pay within 48 hours however, this will result in a Parking Charge Notice (PCN).
Improving user experience
Further to updating the 5pm cut-off for daily parking payments, the PaybyPhone mobile app and website have been made even more user friendly.
Rather than being offered to enter your ‘length of stay’ in minutes, hours or days, you will now only be offered ‘days’. Simply enter ‘1’ to pay the £2 daily parking charge, or if you are leaving your car for longer, you can enter the number of days of parking you need (excluding weekends).
Additionally, the expiry time of your daily parking has been updated and will now be shown as 23.59 and not 5pm.
