The Parliamentary Delegation with the CDT-Africa Team
The Global Health and Infection team at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is proud to announce the release of the official report from the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) delegation visit to Ethiopia in May 2024.
The visit was co-organised to showcase groundbreaking work from two National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR)-funded programmes: the 5S Foundation and the Global Health Research Unit on NTDs. Both initiatives are based at BSMS’s Centre for Equitable Global Health Research and are spearheaded by Professors Gail Davey and Melanie Newport, alongside Dr Gemma Aellah, Jenni Wilburn, and Rachel Jackson.
During the visit, parliamentarians toured partner sites, gaining direct insights into the dedication and progress being made to eliminate NTDs. A key highlight of the trip was the impactful See Me! Policy Event and Exhibition, hosted by the 5S Foundation, which provided a powerful platform to advocate for equitable health solutions.
The delegation’s packed schedule underscored the critical importance of personal engagement in understanding the challenges and achievements of global health initiatives. The newly published report emphasises the vital contributions of BSMS and its collaborators in advancing the fight against NTDs and promoting equitable healthcare.
