Summer of Safety - Health and safety roles and the Voluntary Leavers Scheme

If you’re responsible for managing a team, some team members with key health and safety roles may have recently left the University through the Voluntary Leavers Scheme. Depending on the work undertaken by your team, these roles could include:
- health and safety coordinators
- fire wardens
- first aiders
- mental health first aiders
To ensure that health and safety continues to be managed effectively, and to maintain continuity, it’s important that consideration is given to how identified gaps can be filled.
Encouraging volunteers within your team offers a great development opportunity for staff. Depending on the role, staff can also develop an understanding of health and safety governance at the University. This is an ideal discussion point for inclusion in your team’s Achievement Development Reviews (ADRs).
