Based on feedback from our students and data evidence, the Student Centre will be reopening its doors as a 24/7 building from Monday 15 September 2025. The Library’s new opening hours will be from 8am until midnight (Monday to Friday) and 9am to 9pm (Saturday and Sunday) throughout the year except for exam assessment periods when it will remain open for 24 hours.
Designed with accessibility and wellbeing at its heart, the Student Centre will provide accessible and safe study space for students through the night which is conveniently located in the heart of campus and close to accommodation sites. There will be access to laptop loans and bookable rooms for individual and group study, including postgraduates, within the Student Centre. Students will also have access to the 24/7 Atrium Market, showers, kitchen facilities, gender-neutral toilets, showers and a changing space for those who wish to use them.
The Library continues to be one of the highlights of our campus as well as home to the largest number of study spaces on campus, but its 1960s architecture means that it is less sustainable to open 24 hours a day in comparison to the modern environmental standards that the Student Centre is built to.
We consulted with the Student’s Union and student representatives throughout the last academic year, to make sure the new arrangements continue to meet all your needs we will continue to consult and review as we move forward.
Other study areas across campus are also available and further information can be found on the Student Hub.
