Sussex Academic Framework launch
Dear Colleague,
In summer 2025 the Curriculum Reimagined project team completed their work to create our new Sussex Academic Framework.
The framework, which launched for the 2025/26 academic year, sets out our credit framework, curriculum architecture, and curriculum design and assessment principles. These are designed to guide course design and development across the University. The framework applies to curriculum changes, new course proposals and validations.
All of our existing courses are also being reviewed and renewed to make sure they align with the framework in preparation for cohorts commencing in the 2027/28 academic year.
To help you understand the framework and how you can support the alignment process, colleagues in Educational Enhancement have produced a dedicated Canvas module which includes guidance and resources. This includes a new descriptor setting out the role of a course convenor under the new framework (enrol on the Canvas module before using this link). Please do take the time to review these resources when you can.
Finally, I want to say thank you once again to everyone involved in the production of the framework. It has been a truly collaborative effort and a great example of Sussex colleagues working together at their best.
Kind regards,
Kate
