Fieldnotes is a new podcast series exploring the inspiring world of Anthropology at Sussex and beyond. Combining personal experiences with interdisciplinary research, hosts and guests delve into diverse aspects of social, visual, and cultural anthropology, addressing the questions that matter most.
From everyday life to the politics of representation and memory, Fieldnotes offers intimate, grounded, and interesting conversations designed to inspire. The podcast is a space for students, researchers, and anyone curious about how the study of anthropology comes to life in the real world.

In season one, host Dr Syeda Sana Batool welcomes Professor Magnus Marsden, Head of Anthropology, who shares insights from his upcoming book The Sheep Roads of Central Asia and reflects on what Karakul traders can teach us about cosmopolitanism, mistrust, and life in borderlands.
Episode two features Dr Diana Ibáñez-Tirado, who shares her journey, love for the discipline and a glimpse into her forthcoming book From the Heart of Kulob.
On the latest episode, Anthropology Assistant Professor Dr Gareth Breen discusses his research on the global Christian movement led by Witness Li, how anthropological inquiry can extend into therapy, the links between psychotherapy and ethnography, and AI.
