The Brighton Marathon team is inviting Sussex staff and students to join this year’s volunteer crew – and we’d love you to be part of it. As a thank you for supporting the event, everyone who signs up to the University of Sussex volunteer team will be entered into a ballot to win one of two free places in the 2027 Brighton Marathon.
Brighton Marathon Weekend is one of the city’s most vibrant events, bringing together the marathon, 10k, and the family‑friendly Brighton Miles. None of it would be possible without the energy and commitment of volunteers who help make the day unforgettable for thousands of runners and supporters.
By volunteering on Sunday 12 April, you’ll represent the Sussex community, cheering on participants as they take on an incredible challenge, and help ensure the day runs smoothly.
What will volunteers do?
Volunteers will marshal a box crossing point near the Hove Lawns (see location) from 7.45am–4.30pm. It’s a key position on the course that keeps the marathon flowing by guiding runners and supporting spectators as they cross safely.
When you arrive on the day, you’ll receive a volunteer t‑shirt, a fleece jacket to keep, a packed lunch, and a clear briefing so you feel confident in your role. After the event, you’ll also receive a digital certificate recognising your contribution.
Ready to get involved?
Just register for an account by Friday 3 April and you’ll be allocated a shift shortly after signing up.
