Coffee with impact
Arts Piazza is helping drive positive social impact through its partnership with Social Impact Coffee – a specialty roastery focused on creating real change by supporting good causes.
Social Impact Coffee believes every cup should do some good. Through their model, 65% of the sales from the coffee beans we buy go directly to local causes chosen by our community.
Making a difference together
During 2025, over £1,000 was raised for Surfers Against Sewage and Rockinghorse Children’s Charity. For 2026, Sussex Uni Food is inviting staff and students to help choose the next charity to support.
Between Monday 27 April and Thursday 30 April, visit Arts Piazza to vote using our coffee‑bean‑in‑a‑jar system. Simply choose the jar for the charity you’d most like to support.
Once voting closes, the beans will be carefully counted and the selected charity announced shortly afterwards.
Shortlisted charities
Focusing on local causes, you can vote for one of the following:
- Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House: Children’s charity providing hospice care services and community support for children and young people with limiting and life-threatening conditions in Sussex and South East Hampshire.
- Martlets: providing care to people affected by terminal illness in Brighton and Hove.
- Mind in Brighton and Hove: Works to promote good mental health in our city and across Sussex. They offer services such as advice, support, training and advocacy.
- Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare: Rehomes dogs, cats and small animals, and offers a permanent home to many exotic birds, elderly goats, alpacas and equines.
