The University of Sussex offers staff access to the Easit scheme, providing discounted travel options to help reduce the cost of your daily commute.
Rail travel discounts
Staff can access 15% off Southern rail fares across most of the network (excluding London Zones 1–3), including peak, off-peak and season tickets.
This discount can be applied to a wide range of ticket types, making it suitable for both regular commuters and occasional rail users. It can be particularly valuable when purchasing weekly, monthly, or annual season tickets.
How to access rail discounts:
- Register with Easit to view available rail offers
- Once registered, log in to your Easit dashboard and select the Southern Rail discount
- Follow the instructions provided to purchase discounted tickets directly through the rail operator’s booking system
- Discounts can be used across most ticket types, including peak, off-peak, and season tickets (terms apply)
For regular commuters, this saving can be combined with the University’s interest-free travel loan option to help spread the cost of annual season tickets.
Bus travel discounts
Staff can also access 10% off Brighton & Hove Buses networkSAVER tickets (7-day, 28-day, 90-day and annual tickets) via the Key smartcard.
Discounted fares are also available with Compass Bus services on selected routes across Sussex.
How to access bus discounts:
- Register with Easit to view available bus offers
- Some discounts require an easitCARD (annual cost £5.90) to confirm eligibility
- Discounts are then applied via:
- the Key smartcard system for Brighton & Hove Buses
- direct purchase arrangements or codes provided for Compass Bus services

To take advantage of these savings, staff simply need to register online via Easit and explore available discounts through the dashboard.
