Posted on behalf of: The Better Campus Team
Last updated: Thursday, 19 January 2023
On Friday 20 January between 14.00 and 16.00, Northfield Lane will be closed to all vehicles whilst urgent repairs take place.
Between 08:00 on Wednesday 25 January and 08:00 on Friday 27 January, Northfield Lane will be closed to all vehicles (except emergency services) whilst further urgent repairs take place on the temporary road surface that connects to Refectory Road.
Refectory Road will be access only to vehicles during these works. All pedestrian routes are unaffected.
Buses, Taxis and Parking
Due to damage on the road, buses are no longer serving Northfield Lane. The nearest Bus Stop is on North South Road. Buses will not resume service until the road reopens.
If you are travelling to campus via a taxi, please request to be dropped on Boiler House Road.
If you are travelling to campus by car, we recommend you park in Upper Arts or Jubilee Car Parks.
Deliveries to Lewes Court and Northfield
The road will be closed to all vehicles – this includes delivery vans. If you have a delivery scheduled, please request for delivery to be made to York House and collect the same day. Northfield Amazon lockers will be temporarily unavailable during these road works.
Overnight Working
On Wednesday the 25 January, working hours will be 08:00 to 18:00.
On Thursday 26 January, working hours will be extended to include overnight works so that we are able to reopen the road as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any disruption that this causes.
The road is planned to reopen again by 08:00 on Friday 27 January.
The Works
We are resurfacing the temporary road due to damage in several areas such as potholes. This work will involve laying a base surface and finishing with a tarmac surface. You are likely to hear noise and smell tarmac from this work.
Contact Us
We are sorry for the disruption that these works are going to cause. The road surface deteriorated quicker than anticipated and has been exacerbated by recent wet weather.
