Join us for a special ‘In Conversation’ event with Luke Tryl, Executive Director of think tank and research agency More in Common.
Luke will be talking about ‘Finding common ground in public opinion’. He will discuss the organisation's latest insights into UK public opinion, with a focus on the recent ‘Shattered Britain’ study, which looks at the public’s exhaustion with crumbling public services and leaders who don’t seem to understand what ordinary people want, and how people appear to be losing faith in the system itself. Using More in Common's unique values-based segmentation model - The British Seven - he'll touch on Britons’ perspectives on topics including EDI, individual agency, freedom of speech, appetite for change, climate change and immigration.
Luke leads More in Common’s ground-breaking UK public opinion research, offering deep insights into how the public feels about key issues like immigration, climate change, gender identity, and mental health. His work helps policymakers, businesses, and civil society navigate complex and often divisive topics with clarity and compassion.
He is a regular media commentator and has appeared on flagship current affairs broadcasts on BBC radio and television. He has written for publications including the Times, Telegraph, Guardian, New Statesman and the Spectator.
Before joining More in Common, Luke served as a Special Advisor to the then Secretary of State for Education, Nicky Morgan, during David Cameron's administration and as Director of Strategy at Ofsted, the UK government’s Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills.
This is a great opportunity to explore the background to current issues of contestation both in universities, and society as a whole. Do join the conversation.
