We’re excited to announce the launch of a reciprocal mentoring scheme between the universities of Sussex and Ghana, supported by a British Council Grant.
The scheme is led by Professor Sarah Guthrie (University of Sussex), supported by Sarah Law (University of Sussex), and Professor Deborah Atobrah (University of Ghana). It aims to foster gender equality and address barriers to leadership for women and minority genders through international, cross-cultural partnerships.
Unlike conventional mentoring, where one person is more senior, reciprocal mentoring is about co-learning as equals. Sussex participants will partner with a colleague from the University of Ghana to exchange perspectives, deepen understanding of professional and cultural contexts, and support each other’s career journeys.
The scheme is open to academics, members of professional services and technical staff, inclusive of women and minority genders.
If you’d like to get involved, you can complete an Expression of Interest form and email to Sarah Law or if you would like to have an informal discussion first, please contact Prof Sarah Guthrie.
This is a great opportunity to connect, learn, and enhance your professional practice through meaningful collaboration.
