Events during Mental Health Awareness week

Mental health awareness week is from Monday 12 May until Saturday 18 May and celebrates how being part of a community can protect our mental health.
The Wellbeing Team have compiled activities going on over the week, as well as information here: Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 : University of Sussex on how to access some free sports classes and here: Free Exam Season Breakfasts from Sussex Uni Food : University of Sussex where Sussex Food are providing 1400 free healthy breakfasts for people with exams.
Wednesday May 14
Take a Brain Break – Join a Wellbeing Walk! 1-2pm
Run by Student Engagement and Enhancement
Did you know that spending time in nature has been scientifically proven to boost concentration, improve problem-solving skills, and reduce stress? This exam period, take a well-deserved break and join us for a Wellbeing Walk. Starting from Library Square, each walk will explore different parts of our campus boundary and the nearby beautiful Stanmer Park. The walks will be led by members from Wellbeing, Res Life, and the Student Engagement & Enhancement team.
Everyone is welcome, accessible route planned- we hope to see you there! Let us know if you plan to come.

Come along for a free goody bag as we head into the assessment period! Residential Life will be handing out free care packages on campus on Wednesday the 14th May to help with some of the stress during assignments! The Connectors will be going around campus handing these out, so look out for the purple hoodies!
Thursday 15 May
Wellbeing stall – student centre 12-2pm
Run by the Student Wellbeing Team
Team members from the wellbeing team will be available in the student centre from 12-2 to answer any questions about wellbeing. Or – we know it can be stressful – so you are welcome to come along for a chat about anything!
Cooking for wellbeing - 5-8pm
The Student Engagement and Enhancement team are hosting a free cooking class centred around food for wellbeing for Mental Health Awareness week. The theme this year is community, and what better way to honour that than by building community through cooking and sharing food with your peers.
If you can, take a break from your studies and assessments to join us at the community kitchen in Brighton.

These cooking classes usually cost around £70 per person, but the Belong at Sussex team have covered this cost so that you can enjoy it for free. We only ask that you honour your spot if are offered one and cancel at least 24 hours beforehand to allocate your spot to someone else from the waiting list.
Mocktail Paint n Sip @ Room 76, Falmer House, 5-8pm:

A mocktail paint and sip event where students will be able to paint on canvas and sip on mocktails to relax and unwind as part of A2 assessment period and Mental Health Awareness week
Friday 16 May
Rounders @ ACCA Lawns, 3-5pm:
Run by the Students' Union
A game of rounders for the A2 assessment and MHA week to be held at ACCA Lawns where students will be able to take a break and relax as its both A2 assessment and Mental Health Awareness week
