Professor Robin Banerjee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global and Civic Engagement) and Chair of the Staff Survey Steering Group, emailed all staff on Wednesday 8 October. You can read the message below:
Dear Colleague,
The Staff Pulse Survey opens on Monday 13 October and, as Chair of the Staff Survey Steering Group, I am writing to ask you to look out for your email invitation to take part.
The mini survey, which has six questions, will only take you around two minutes to complete. I know it is a busy time of year for everyone at the University, but your participation would be hugely valued. Feedback gathered will help us understand staff views right now and contribute to improving working life at Sussex.
The survey results will be analysed by teams in every Faculty and Professional Services Division, as well as by the University-wide leadership team. The data reports will be shared with all staff members, and the results will be used to build action plans for change within and across all Faculties, Schools and Divisions. The more detailed responses from our last full survey in 2024 will also be incorporated into ongoing action planning. Find out more about some of the positive actions that have been driven by the insights gained in previous surveys, on our staff survey webpages.
For this new mini survey, you will receive an email from People Insight, our survey partner, on Monday 13 October with your personal survey link. The survey email will come from: survey-invite@peopleinsight.co.uk. If your email doesn’t arrive or you accidentally delete it, you can contact People Insight at: support@peopleinsight.co.uk. The short survey will be open until midnight on Sunday 2 November, and it will be possible to complete it on your computer or mobile phone. You will also be able to access the survey via QR code or online link.
To reassure you about confidentiality, I want to stress that although a personal survey link will be sent to every member of staff, the results available to the University will never be linked back to any individual. In fact, the People Insight data reports operate on the basis of a ‘rule of 10', meaning that results summaries for groups with fewer than 10 people will not be available; these will be rolled up into higher level groupings.
I would like to thank you in advance for taking a couple of minutes from your busy schedule to complete this survey. Every response is important and by taking part you will help make a positive impact for all colleagues at the University.
With my best wishes,
Robin
