On Tuesday 5 May, colleagues from across the University came together for a panel discussion on lifelong learning at Sussex, hosted by Robin Banerjee (Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global and Civic Engagement). The event marked an early start to this year’s Learning at Work Week celebrations ahead of the University-wide programme taking place during the week commencing 18 May.
Panellists included Kate O'Riordan (Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and Students), Anthony Groves (User Experience Senior Manager) and Dan Axson (Learning Technologies Manager), Katy Stoddard (Researcher Development Manager) and Vicki Love (Organisational Development Consultant).
The discussion explored the many ways staff can learn and develop at Sussex, from formal training and professional accreditations to mentoring, coaching, peer learning and taking on new challenges within day-to-day roles. Panellists shared honest reflections on their own learning journeys, highlighting how continuous learning can support personal growth, career development and adaptability in a changing workplace.
A wide range of learning approaches and opportunities were discussed, offering colleagues inspiration and practical ideas to support their own development journeys and encouraging staff to think more broadly about what learning at work can look like.
