We are carrying out essential upgrades to the Library’s lighting and electrics. These changes will make the Library safer, more sustainable and a much better place to study, supporting our Recovery and Rebuilding plan. Here’s everything you need to know:
- Over 1,500 lights are being replaced with energy efficient LEDs across the basement and Ground Floor
- Improving the student experience through brighter, more comfortable study spaces
- Improving safety through upgraded emergency lighting
- A more sustainable building saving an estimated 84 tonnes of carbon per year – that’s enough to power 64 homes with electricity for a year!
What this means for students and staff
Lighting upgrades are now underway. We’re working hard to keep disruption to a minimum, but some impact is unavoidable.
- Some areas will be noisy at times
- Noisy work will be scheduled for quieter times wherever possible
- Clear signage will show which zones are temporarily unavailable
