With Brighton and Hove Albion potentially so close to winning the Sky Bet Championship, the University has thrown its full support behind its Falmer neighbours in the Amex stadium.
In a letter to the Chairman of Brighton & Hove Albion, Tony Bloom the University of Sussex Vice-Chancellor Adam Tickell praised the entire club for the impact the Premier League promotion will have on the people of Brighton & Hove: “The energy and pride that is obvious to see in all parts of the city is testament to the determination and focus of your players and the leadership provided by yourself and the management team. What fantastic role models your team are for the young people in our city and beyond."
Seagulls fans from both Sussex and Brighton Universities have come together to celebrate Brighton & Hove Albion’s success, with staff and students proclaiming their support for the club in a heartfelt video.
University of Sussex staff member Mark Raven, who is a season-ticket holder and life-long Albion fan, said: “The club have been a real part of this community, and I hope that everyone in this city and the whole of Sussex supports the club. I think we are all together.”
University staff and students also described Albion’s performance as “fantastic” and “brilliant for the whole of the city”.
